Ronselli Park

The City of Sweetwater owns four parks. Our largest, Ronselli Park, located on S.W. 114 Avenue at S.W. 2 Street, has facilities for playing baseball, basketball, racquetball, t-ball, soccer and football and is where our new Jorge Mas Canosa Youth Center is located. The City's summer program is held here. Special activities are planned during the year such as Halloween parties, Easter Egg hunts, 4th of July celebrations, Christmas shows and the Jose Marti Parade. The Jorge Mas Canosa building is also available for party rentals on weekends.

Park Hours

  • Parks & Rec. Office Hours (inside Jorge Mas Canosa): 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday
  • General park hours: Sunrise to Sunset
  • Basketball, racquet ball courts, and playground are open to the public weekdays and weekends. Sunrise to Sunset.

James M. Beasley Linear Park

The James M. Beasley Linear Park is located along the Tamiami Canal between S.W. 107 Avenue and S.W. 117 Avenue. It offers a bike path and vita course stretching the one mile length of the park. There are also benches, lighting, water fountains and two shelter rest stations.

Carlow Park

Carlow Park is located across the street from Sweetwater Elementary School at S.W. 106 Avenue and S.W. 4 Street. The Claude and Mildred Pepper Senior Activities Center is on the park grounds. Carlow Park provides, in addition to the elderly services center, tennis courts, racquetball courts, a basketball court and a tot lot. There are also gazebos which are available for a fee on the weekends for parties.

Park Hours

  • General park hours: Sunrise to Sunset
  • Tennis Courts are open to the public weekdays and weekends. Hours are Sunrise to 9 PM.

Jose 'Lolo' Villalobos Dominoes Park

The Jose 'Lolo' Villalobos Dominoes Park is the newest in our park system. The City acquired the land through a grant from the State of Florida. It is an area for residents to play dominoes. Buildings include a gazebo and a shelter to house dominoes tables, a small tot lot and also bathroom and parking facilities.

Plans are near completion for major improvements at the city's main park, Ronselli Park. These include a renovation of the field lighting, creation of additional parking along the street, rerouting of traffic around the park, and many cosmetic improvements inside the main building.

Going out for bids in the near future are improvements to the Claude and Mildred Pepper Senior Activities Center in Carlow Park to include approximately 1,259 sq. ft. of additional space and a complete renovation of the original building. Also in Carlow Park is a completely new tot lot and playground installed as part of the Kaboom program sponsored by Home Depot.

Joe Cubas Baseball Program

In partnership with the Joe Cubas organization, the city provides the field facilities and the Cubas organization provides the baseball program. City residents participate at the same rate the City charged them when it was running its own program. The partnership provides a much better program than the City could afford to provide.

Elderly Meals Program

This is a second elderly program based at Ronselli Park and run by a non-profit organization. The City provides the space in the building for approximately 200 participants.
